Fountain Alley in downtown San Jose, California, is many things to many people. Some think it is an eyesore. Others consider it dangerous. Over the years it has developed a perception of crime, drug use, and antisocial behavior. However, the one constant is that the people have never stopped thinking about it, talking about it, or imagining its potential.

The Open Gallery Alley project aims to reboot the perception and interaction the community has with Fountain Alley by bringing a traditionally private institutions into the public commons - the art gallery. Through community-driven curation and activation, we aim to expose the potential of Fountain Alley.
